Book folding is the craft of folding the pages within old books to create 3D shapes. This program will teach the basics of book folding and help patrons create a holiday-themed book decoration. No experience necessary; all supplies will be provided. 1000 Cranes for East Cleveland Public Library Tuesdays, January 7th, 21st and 28th, 2025 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM In Japan, the crane is considered a mystical or holy creature that is said to live for a thousand years. Senbazuru, which translates to "one thousand cranes", is a longstanding tradition of folding one thousand origami paper cranes by a person or group of people who will make the wish at the end. January is the perfect time to make a wish for renewal and good fortune, so join us to learn how to fold an origami crane and help us reach our goal of 1000 cranes as we wish for blessings for East Cleveland Public Library. However, there is something about a physical letter that catches people’s attention. The week of January 12-18th is Universal Letter Writing Week, so we’re going to explore writing letters and postcards, and encourage patrons to consider the various uses for physical letters. So, whether it’s writing to a celebrity requesting an autograph, a politician asking them to change something, or sending a letter or postcard just reaching out to a friend or loved one, come learn about the Art of Letter Writing.
