Getting a Library Card

Ohio residents who can write their first name may receive a library card. Please bring in proper identification such as:

A valid Ohio Driver’s License or valid State of Ohio identification card must be presented to obtain a Library card. If the Driver’s License or State identification does not have the most current address, utility bill, envelope, or post card (with a recent postmark) showing the current address must be shown in addition to the driver’s license or State identification. A patron’s birth date and valid Ohio Driver’s License number or valid State of Ohio Identification Number are required for all Library card registrations and will be added to the account.  A parent or legal guardian’s driver’s license number or State of Ohio identification number will be added to a child’s account.

Your Library Card

You can use your library card to find new book titles, search databases (including newspapers, magazines, homework helpers, etc), reserve materials, check your library account, and much more!  You can also use this card at other libraries throughout the Greater Cleveland area.  Applicants under 16 must get a signature from a parent or legal guardian.

Two Ways to get a Library card:

  1. Fill out the Library Card Application below, print it out, and bring to the Library.  
  2. Visit East Cleveland Main Library located at 14101 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, OH 44112. Go to the Circulation desk and ask for a library card application. Have the proper identification showing your current address and you will receive a Library card the same day.
